 Important Update Regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

As you may know, COVID-19 has been experiencing a resurgence in our area and across the globe.  The team at NorthStar Credit Union remains committed to ensuring that everyone feels safe and secure as a member of the NorthStar family. 

We also remain steadfast in our efforts to provide our member-owners uninterrupted account access.  Our lobbies are currently open for services at this time. However, we encourage members to utilize the alternate delivery channels listed below in order to limit contact whenever possible - particularly if you are not feeling well or have tested positive for COVID-19. 

Account Access

  • Drive-thru facilities are available at our Aurora, Plainfield, and Warrenville locations. Find a location near you!
  • It's Me 247 online banking allows you to check balances, review your account activity, transfer funds, request a check and pay bills.
  • The NorthStar Credit Union mobile app supports the functions above as well as Click Deposit, our mobile deposit solution allowing you to deposit a check from the convenience of your phone or tablet.
  • CU*Talk telephone banking 630-393-7201, option #1, allows you to check balances, hear recent transactions, and transfer funds.
  • A NorthStar Credit Union Visa® debit card provides you online purchasing power as well as access to cash at over 50,000 surcharge-free ATMs worldwide.
  • Apply for a loan online and for consumer loans, you can even sign your documents electronically in minutes from your phone or tablet upon approval!

We are excited to announce that our branch lobbies will reopen for service tomorrow.  For the safety of you, our member-owners, and our staff, we will be practicing the following CDC recommendations in our lobbies:  

  • We ask that you please wear a face mask if medically tolerated.
  • Maintain a safe 6' distance in your interaction with staff and other members.
  • If you are not feeling well, please use the drive-thru for your transaction
  • We can dispense with the formalities of a handshake.
  • Our staff will continue to sanitize surfaces through the course of the day as they have been throughout the pandemic.

Individuals, families and small businesses across the country are starting to feel the financial impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.  The team at NorthStar Credit Union is here to help, just as we always have been.  If you're struggling and need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.  We have developed various programs to provide relief during these trying times.

While global and local concerns surrounding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) persist, the health and safety of our staff and members remains our top priority. During these unprecedented times, we are following CDC guidance and taking preventive steps to support public health and protect our employees. Therefore, effective Friday, March 20, 2020, until further notice, we have made the very difficult decision to limit in-branch service to drive-through only, with the exception of our Bridgeport location which does not have a drive-through, but does have a physical barrier between staff and the public.  

Please know that this decision was not arrived at easily, but in the end, after numerous conversations and scenario plans, the one thing we are 100% confident in, is that by taking this action now, we will be in a better position to ensure that we are available to provide you uninterrupted account access throughout this period.  Simply put, losing our ability to provide ongoing service throughout this difficult time is simply a risk that we are unwilling to take.

Our Member Solutions Center can be reached by calling 630-393-7201, option #2, Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  We appreciate your patience as call hold times may be longer than you are accustomed.

As a part of our commitment to provided uninterrupted account access, we'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that many of our products and services are accessible remotely 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

At NorthStar Credit Union, our members come first in all that we do. This core value holds true even during uncertain times like those we face today, where many people are understandably anxious about COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the unknown that it presents. As your credit union, we are operating in a state of preparedness and continue to monitor guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to ensure the health and safety of our staff and members. Regardless of our personal feelings, we strongly believe that all of us have a social responsibility to do whatever is within our power to help slow the spread of this virus.

 

 

Health and Wellness

We have taken the following steps to help aid in the prevention of the virus spread:

  • All branches are receiving added supplies of hand soap, sanitizer, and Clorox wipes to foster good personal hygiene and clean work areas.
  • Employee and member feedback is being carefully considered. For example, as a result of member requests we have temporarily suspended donuts in our lobbies on Saturdays.
  • Employees that are sick or receive notice of exposure to COVID-19 will be asked to stay home with pay.Those that can, and feel up to it, will be able to work from home (see below).
  • Non-essential visits to and from outside vendors are being postponed in accordance with CDC social distancing recommendations.

 

Member Service

The team at NorthStar remains steadfast in our commitment to provide a superior member experience. We are positioned well to respond to potential impact in order to minimize disruption to our normal course of business as follows:

  • NorthStar has comprehensive disaster recovery and pandemic plans in place to respond as needs change.
  • Critical systems and staff that are essential to our day-to-day operations are prepared to operate remotely and securely if necessary.
  • All incoming calls can be handled by our team regardless of location.
  • Branches with drive-through facilities are capable of operating under drive-through only services should a staffing shortage arise.
